Child and Family Treatment Collaborative—This program provides outpatient mental health services throughout San Mateo County for families with children aged 6 – 17 who have been abused or neglected. Families and children receive mental health assessments, individual and family therapy to help address underlying issues and prevent future incidents. Call 650-591-9623 x116.
 
Children’s Place Program —– This is a prevention program for children of parents who are addicted to drugs or alcohol. In an effort to break the cycle of addiction, the program uses education and support groups to teach children about alcohol and drug use, build their self esteem, help them learn coping, safety and communication skills and ways to resist drugs when offered. Counseling Clinic—Provides affordable individual and family counseling for children who are dealing with peer conflicts, trouble in school, homework stress, low self-esteem and communication issues. For more information click here or call 650-591-9623 x128.
 
Crisis Hotline—This 24-hour telephone hotline offers counseling for kids who are feeling depressed or suicidal. Our lines are safe and anonymous places to explore feelings and concerns, vent frustrations, clarify problems, get referrals or just to talk. Go to www.crisiscenter.cc or call 650-579-0350.
 
Crisis Intervention Team—(For San Mateo County Schools only.) If a student seems to be suicidal, one of our on-call counselors will discuss the situation with a teacher by telephone, and if necessary visit the school to assess the at-risk youth, and assist them in getting the help they need. Call the hotline at 650-579-0359 to request an intervention.
 
Differential Response – This program is a home visiting and case management service for families who have been reported to Child Protective Services but screened out as low-risk. Case Managers help link the families to resource centers and other services in schools and the local community, to strengthen the family’s ability to function. Free in-home therapy may be available to families in need. Call 650-591-5027.
 
Diversion—This is an early intervention program for youth referred for first-time misdemeanor offenses. The counseling program is designed to help youth struggling with difficult issues, such as family conflict, peer relationships, acculturation, drug and alcohol abuse, school-related challenges and anger management. Healthy Homes—This is a home-visiting program that provides counseling and advice for families with children under the age of 5 years who have witnessed family violence. Case managers connect families to community resources such as food, housing, clothes, medical care, daycare, and vocational training. Clinicians work with the family members to heal the trauma, help parent-child bonding, and increase parenting skills. Call 650-579-0361 x15.
 
Learning Together—The Learning Together program provides FREE home visits to pregnant mothers and to families with children birth through 5 years of age. Home visits are twice a month, focusing on child development, literacy and parenting skills. During home visits Early Childhood Parent Educators will bring developmentally based parent/child activities that support parents in learning new ways to interact with their children while preparing them for preschool and kindergarten. Parent Educators provide developmental screenings and help families connect with community resources such as early education, health, nutrition, mental health and parenting classes. The program is available in East Palo Alto, East Menlo Park and Redwood City. Services are available in English, Spanish, Tongan, and Fijian. Call 650-579-0361 x15.
 
Prenatal-to-Three—This is a home visiting service for Medi-Cal eligible families who are pregnant or have a child under three years of age. The program provides public health services, links to community resources, parenting classes and mental health services to families, with the goal of ensuring the healthy early brain development of the children. School-Based Services—This program provides family and group counseling services to schools throughout San Mateo County. Psychoeducation and counseling help at-risk youth and their families learn about anger management, socialization skills, self esteem and other issues, and crisis intervention and youth development services are also available. Your House South—Provides 24-hour emergency and temporary housing for youth aged 10 to 17 whose families are in crisis. Youth are able to live at the shelter for 14-30 days, where they participate in a structured program that includes individual, group and family counseling. The goal of the program is to reunite the youth with their families. Call 650-367-9687.
