As a member of the California Psychology Internship Council (CAPIC), YFES provides professional training to psychology practicum students, marriage and family therapist trainees/interns, social work interns and associate clinical social workers, and pre-doctoral psychology interns.
The primary goal of the training program is to provide high-quality professional training and supervised experience that will afford each clinician-in-training the opportunity to build cultural, ethical, and clinical competence in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, adults, and their families within a multicultural community and multidisciplinary mental health setting.
Structure
YFES' professional staff includes psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and highly trained paraprofessionals in the areas of child development and substance abuse treatment. Supervision is provided primarily by licensed psychologists (Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical, Counseling, or Educational Psychology), licensed clinical social workers (LCSW), and licensed marriage and family therapists (MFT).
Weekly in-service training seminars are provided throughout the training year, and we also offer "live" therapy supervision/training seminar experience. Our state-of-the-art facility enables a trainee's therapy session to be observed and videotaped from behind a one-way mirror. The trainee is able to wear an earpiece to receive in-the-moment supervision, and trainees are able to analyze and discuss the session in subsequent process groups.
2008-2009 Applications
YFES is offering full-time (40 hours per week), twelve-month pre-doctoral psychology internship positions for the 2008-2009 training year. Pre-doctoral psychology interns will be selected from accredited doctoral-level graduate schools of clinical psychology.
YFES will also be offering part-time (20 hours per week), twelve-month, practicum, trainee, and master's level internships for the 2008-2009 training year. Trainees will be selected from clinical psychology, marriage and family therapy, and social work programs. Post-graduate marriage and family interns and associate clinical social workers who are registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) will also be considered.
